According to a situation report obtained by SaharaReporters on Wednesday, the operation took place late on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, along Kabba Junction in Lokoja, Kogi State.

Troops of the 12 Brigade, in collaboration with operatives of the Kogi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have intercepted and arrested an Aircraftman of the Nigerian Air Force for conveying firearms illegally.

According to a situation report obtained by SaharaReporters on Wednesday, the operation took place late on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, along Kabba Junction in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The suspect, identified as ACM Anas Muhammad Fakai (NAF 23/42603), was apprehended at about 10:20 p.m. while transporting two pump-action rifles and a Browning pistol.

According to the operatives, Fakai claimed he was delivering the weapons to Constable Mohammed Auwal Haliru, an orderly attached to a Commissioner of Police at the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Fakai further claimed that the firearms were sent to him by Inspector Paul, currently serving at the Government House in Benin, Edo State.

Investigations revealed that Fakai is a serving member of the 107 Air Maritime Group in Benin, along Airport Road. He also attended the Nigeria Police Secondary School, Gusau, Zamfara State, from 2015 to 2019.

The suspect and the recovered firearms have been taken into custody and are currently under investigation, pending further directives from security authorities.

“Further investigation revealed that the suspect also attended the Nigeria Police Secondary School, Gusau, Zamfara State between 2015 and 2019,” the situation report reads.

“Suspect and exhibits are in custody awaiting further directive.”
