Bandits have attacked the village of Tashan Yari in Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, less than a week after a deadly assault in the same local council.

The assailants stormed the village on Monday night, firing sporadically before abducting a pregnant woman, the wife of one Malam Bala in Unguwan Lole of the Tashan Yari.

A source from the local government confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters via WhatsApp. The source noted that Tashan Yari is approximately two to three kilometers from Makarfi town, the local government headquarters.

More details about the attack are still being awaited, according to the source.

This latest incident comes just a week after a similar violent attack in Gimi Tasha village, within the same local government area.

In that attack, bandits killed Uwais Yahaya and abducted his mother, who remains in captivity. They also shot his father, Alhaji Yahaya Ilu, and his brother, Ibrahim Yahaya.

Ibrahim Yahaya succumbed to his gunshot wounds over the weekend, while his father, Alhaji Yahaya Ilu, is still recovering in the hospital.

In a related incident, last Thursday, October 9, SaharaReporters reported that bandits that morning attacked Gimi Tasha village in Makarfi Local Government Area, killing a man and abducting his mother, while leaving two others injured.

The deceased, identified as Uwais Yahaya, was shot during the raid, while the assailants abducted his mother. Eyewitnesses said the bandits targeted Uwais Yahaya’s mother, leaving his wife.

Two other family members, Alhaji Yahaya Ilu, the father, and Ibrahim Yahaya, one of Uwais’s sons, were also shot with AK-47 rifles but survived and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Makarfi is located within the Kaduna North senatorial district.
