An apparent hijacking accomplice was shot and killed by his victim on Friday evening on the Christiaan de Wet Road and Rinyani Street intersection in Roodepoort, Gauteng.

The victim who turned hero allegedly opened fire on three men who attempted to hijack him and his vehicle.

The hijacking went completely wrong as one of the suspects died at the scene while one was wounded and died on the way to hospital, while a third was believed to be wounded and got away.

Spokesperson for Honeydew Police Station Captain Balan Muthan confirmed to the Northsider a case of attempted hijacking and armed robbery had been opened.

The third suspect was also believed to be wounded but managed to escape.

According to Muthan, of the two deceased suspects, one was shot in the head and the other in the chest.

The trio tried to use a toy gun that was found at the scene.

The victim probably realised the gun was fake and pulled out a real one on them.

Unconfirmed details have emerged that the third suspect died on his escape.

Upon a search, a cellphone of the victim was found in one of suspects’ pockets.
