Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare has urged his teammates to channel the pain of their last-minute defeat to Arsenal into securing the club’s first win of the season against Brentford, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The Nigerian forward’s 90th-minute header looked to have earned Rob Edwards’ side a point at the Emirates until a 94th-minute Yerson Mosquera own goal condemned Wolves to another heartbreaking defeat.
Arokodare believes the only way to overcome such setbacks is to claim three points in their final game before Christmas at Molineux this weekend.
“You can’t really get over it,” Arokodare said.
“I think the only way to get over it is to go into the next game and try to win it, and that’s how you forget the little heartbreaks like this.
“We just have to not let it go, but take that same pain into the next game and try to get the three points.”
Speaking to TNT Sports after the Arsenal match, Arokodare described the late concession as ‘hurtful’ and attributed it to poor defending.
“It’s hurtful. It’s been happening to us the whole season. We play very good for the whole 90 minutes, and then at the end we always concede. I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s very hurtful,” he said.
“Like I said, it’s been happening the whole of the season. It is not the first time we conceded in the last minute. It’s something that we have to work on – staying focused to the last whistle – very unlucky for us.”
Wolves have conceded four own goals this season, the most in the Premier League, with defensive lapses repeatedly undermining their performances.
The summer signing, who was left out of Nigeria’s 28-man squad for the 2025 AFCON, is now focused on helping Wolves fight for survival.
