President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick has said that the body is under serious pressure to relieve Gernot Rohr of his duties as Super Eagles Coach.

He said the call was made from Nigerians who were not impressed over the defeat of Super Eagles by Algeria in the AFCON semi-final match on Sunday.

It was earlier reported that Algeria scored 2 goals while the Super Eagles scored only one goal.

However, Pinnick said Rohr will not be sacked, noting that he will stay on his job after the tournament.

He said NFF has a long-term plan with the coach and he is set to go on a refresher training period with Bayern after AFCON 2019.

He added that Rohr has met the semifinal target the federation set for him before the AFCON began.

Pinnick said; “There are some people that have been calling on me and the federation to fire Gernot,” Amaju told @osasuo on Monday night, adding: “But I am not going to do that. In fact, Gernot is going on a refresher training period with Bayern after AFCON 2019. We have a long-term plan with him.

“He will not be sacked as Super Eagles coach. He will remain in the job. I have complete confidence in him. Gernot has taken us to the semifinal, the target we set for him.”
