Manchester United in a statement has confirmed, Michael Carrick as the new interim manager until a new temporary boss is appointed within the next 48 hours, as the officially part ways with Jose Mourinho with immediate effect following a 3 – 1 defeat at Liver Pool on Sunday.


Mourinho’s future has been the subject of intense scrutiny this season – and the club’s worst start to a season in 28 years was confirmed with defeat at Liver pool on Sunday.


The club also disclosed that a caretaker-manager will be appointed until the end of the season while it conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new full-time manager.

Mourinho leaves Manchester United after two and a half years in charge, having won the League Cup and the Europa League but United’s haul of 26 points after 17 games to the season is the club’s worst start to top flight football since 1990.
