Super Eagles of Nigeria qualifies for the semifinal of the 2019 African Cup of Nations after beating bitter rivals South Africa 2-1 on Wednesday night, July 10, in the quarterfinal.
Nigeria went into this match with lots of confidence after beating reigning champions of Africa Cameroon in the round of 16, while South Africa on the other hand defeated the hosts Egypt.
Gernot Rohr’s 11 men scored their first goal in the 27th minute through Samuel Chukwueze who benefited from an excellent pass by Alex Iwobi.
But South Africa came back into the game nineteen minutes from stoppage time when Bongani Zungu scored a controversial goal.

Fans were thinking of the match going into penalties before Ekong the Udinese defender, who cost the team a lose to Madagascar redeemed his name by scoring the winning goal for the Eagles of Nigeria.
Nigerians have now taken to social media to react to the Super Eagles victory with many praising Samuel Chukwueze for his superb performance which gave him his first international goal while others are of the opinion that he has put smiles on the faces of Nigerians more than Buhari’s entire regime in office.
