Ahead of the governorship election in Bayelsa state, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that the commission is considering the proposal from the state to postpone the Nov. 2 Governorship Election.
This was announced by the INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu on Tuesday, during a meeting with stakeholders from Bayelsa state.
The commission has also announced its preparation to prosecute electoral offenders whose files are already with the Nigerian Police.
Meanwhile, it was earlier reported that the commission has withdrew the Certificate of Return it issued to the chairman, senate committee on Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC) and senator representing Delta North senatorial district of Delta state, Peter Nwaoboshi.
Further reports said the electoral body gave the Certificate of Return to Ned Nwoko as Senator-Elect for Delta North Senatorial District at the commission’s headquarters Abuja.
