Former Government Secretary and Presidential candidate of the Alliance for Democracy in 1999, Chief Olu Falae has retired from active politics.

The 80-year-old man who retired on Friday has given reasons for his decision to quit politics.

Chief Falae was a member of the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

The former presidential candidate cited health challenge and age as his reasons for the decision he took.

He also hinted the internal conflict in the SDP as another reason.

It was gathered that the SDP is facing internal crisis over who should be fielded as presidential candidate of the party.

The struggle has been between former minister, Professor Jerry Gana and former governor of Cross River Donald Duke.
