The Nigerian Army has vowed to carry out the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari on ballot box snatchers in the forthcoming general election.
Countering the statement attributed to presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, asking the Nigerian Army to disregard President Buhari’s directive, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai said the Army will obey the orders of the Commander-In-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces to the latter.
According to Vanguard news, he stated this while speaking at a meeting he held with the Principal Staff Officers, General Officers Commanding and Brigade Commanders on Wednesday.
In his statement, he asked Atiku to withdraw the statement he made and apologise for trying to incite the army against the orders of the president.
In what he termed as constituted authority, he said it is binding on the army to fully obey the orders of the President.
He also warned that anyone found to have violated the law will be treated inline with the directives of the president.
However, the Army chief did not specifically mention Atiku’s name, but from every indication his description was targeted at the former Vice President.
