The former governor of Imo state and senator-elect, Rochas Okorocha has been sworn in as senator representing Imo West Senatorial District.
The swearing in was performed by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, on Thursday during the plenary today at about 10.39am.
Senator Lawan performed his first plenary assignment as the new Nigeria’s Senate President.
It was learnt that the ceremony took place after the lawmakers had their prayers, and approval of votes and proceedings at plenary in the red chamber in Abuja.
Immediately after taking the oath of office and signing the necessary documents, Okorocha approached the senate president to have a handshake.
It was earlier reported that Senator Lawan and Ovie Omo-Agege were elected as Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively during the internal elections.
