The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Diran Mikiya in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force Detachment in Birnin Gwari killed 12 bandits in an air strike conducted in Kamuku Forest area in the north-west.


The airstrike which resulted to the death of the bandits and rescue of 15 kidnapped victims took place on May 10.
This was disclosed by the Nigerian Air Force Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola on Tuesday.
According to Channels Television, the NAF spokesman said the forest spans both Birnin Gwari Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State and Sabuwa LGA of Katsina State.

He added that that the strikes made the bandits to flee from their hideout in disarray thereby enabling the kidnapped victims to escape.

He disclosed further that some of the victims escaped to Nacibi while others found their way to Gobirawa and Dogon Muazu in Birnin Gwari.

Daramola said that they were able fish out the bandits after receiving intelligence reports indicating that they were hiding within Kamuku Forest area.
