The Lagos State Government has reminded Lagosians of their plans to close down Akanni Doherty Street by Ashade, in Ikeja in preparation for the on-going Nigeria Railway Modernization Project.

The street will be locked from Friday 28th night, and it will last till morning of Sunday June 30th, 2019, and the two day closure will be use for digging off across the road.

The reason for this is to allow contractors of the Project, CCECC and Devine Gate LTD, move and interconnect the 700mm diameter public water main in the Ashade vicinity, in other for work to commence soon.

The statement was released and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Dr Taiwo Olufemi Salam, on Thursday 27th June 2019.

The statement reads; “The two-day closure will be used for excavation across the said road, the laying of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes, and backfilling and compaction of the road.”

“Motorist and the general public are hereby urged to cooperate with the State Government by using alternative routes around the area during the period, to ensure hitch-free traffic flow.”
