Ike Ekweremadu, the former Deputy Senate President who was attacked by irate mob and pelted with objects before he could escape into his car that zoomed quickly away from the scene at the New Yam Festival celebration in Germany on Saturday, August 19th, has said that his attackers were heavy on drugs and alcohol and that he has forgiven all of them.

Recall that Ekweremadu was roughly thrown out of an events hall in Germany by IPOB members and pelted with objects before he could escape into his car that zoomed quickly away from the scene.

Ekweremadu who reacted to the incident shortly after his return to Nigeria on Monday August 19th told journalists at the airport that he has forgiven all of his attackers and would not be seeking punishment for them.

According to the senator, “I had a feeling that they were under the influence of alcohol and drugs. They did not represent the feelings of our people. I have forgiven them and I have moved on. The government of Germany is free to do whatever they want to do about their case.”
