Hours after the inauguration of the new governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, reports emerged that the state government has started demolishing structures built by the past government.

Akachi Monument which is one of the structures built by the immediate past governor, Rochas Okorocha, was on Thursday demolished by the state government.
It was gathered that some military operatives numbering over 25 stormed the place and chased the workers away.
The environment was barricaded by the military men, making it difficult for people to see and gain access to the place.
Journalists and people who tried to take pictures of the demolished monument were stopped from taking photographs of the place.
Meanwhile, Okorocha had described the Akachi Tower as a symbol of the hand of God over Imo State.

He said that the structure was meant to attract tourists to the state.
