A House of Representative member Mr Anthony Nwafor, representing Nkanu East/West constituency, has said that president Mohamadu Buhari’s major priority is to secure the lives of Nigerians.

 

Nwafor, stated this on Wednesday, while reacting on the crisis between the Shiites and the Nigerian Army.

 

He urged Nigerians to encourage Buhari to maintain the good works of securing lives and properties he has started and also in making sure that peace reigns in the country.

 

The APC reps member, maintained that religious leaders in the country should admonish their congregations on the need to adhere to the rules and regulations guiding their country..

 

He said “This is the only way the values they teach them can be said to reflect in their daily lives.

 

Nwafor added that “Getting too obsessed with religious loyalty breeds extremism which is what the world is gripped with today”.

 

Stressing on the issue of the Shiites, he said “The number of lives lost on daily basis to the confrontation between the group and the Nigeria Army is not necessary as the development can be avoided.

 

“Women, children and youths are made to march on the streets of Abuja to protest, thereby exposing them to the dangers associated with this confrontation with the military.

 

“Every life is important. Nigerians should learn to present their grievances without creating further problems.”

 

However, he urged the Federal Government to on the matter concerning the detention of the leader of the group  Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and do the needful.
