The National Assembly has given approval to the reappointment of Mr Godwin Emefiele as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Emefiele’s second tenure will last for another five years.

This follows after Senator Rafiu Adebayo presented the report of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions which was adopted by the House during the plenary on Thursday.

It was gathered that Mr Emefiele was cleared on Wednesday after the committee screened and asked him questions relating to the nation’s economy.

Meanwhile the Sahara Reporters published a report about an audio recording which contains a discussion between the CBN governor and his deputy over a huge amount of money allegedly missing from the CBN treasury.

It was reported that the CBN governor and some top officials were allegedly discussing how to cover up the missing N500 billion from the public.

Sahara Reporters further stated that the money was used for a Dubai investment which went awry.
