Not less than fourteen person were confirmed dead after the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential rally in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The sad incident happened around 4pm at the close of the event after President Buhari left the stadium with his entourage.

It was gathered that the deceased APC supporters died in a stampede while trying to leave the Adokie Amiesimaka Stadium where the rally was conducted.

The victims who were seen lying lifeless on the ground while the crowd marches on were three middle-aged women and one man.

Furthermore, about eight persons were critically injured while trying to rush home after listening to President Muhammadu Buhari who was the last speaker at the rally.

The incident has been confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, he said that four persons were receiving treatment at a hospital.

The University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, also confirmed that 14 dead bodies were brought in on Tuesday.

The Public Relations officer of UPTH, Kem Daniel-Elebiga said; “I can confirm 14 persons dead as I speak. Initially, it was six but the figures changed as they brought them and are being examined. There are others under medical attention at the Emergency Unit. So, we can’t force a clear figure beyond what the situation is at the moment.”
