The rate at which Nigerian youths commit suicide is becoming alarming. Another Nigerian youth, a 400-level student of the Department of English and Literary Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, (UNN) has committed suicide.
According to Sahara Reporters, the deceased identified as Chukwuemeka Akachi took his life by drinking two bottles of Sniper at an uncompleted building located at Sullivan Road, Nsukka in Enugu state.
A source disclosed that Akachito have posted a suicide note on his Facebook page which reads;
“They said you came looking for me. I don’t drown, I was the water,
“Where do atheists go when they die! Lol. Amen.”
Also on May 12, Akachi who loves poetry a lot was said to have posted on his Facebook; “My mental health has been on life support for a while now. Thanks to those who call. Text. Visit.
“Speak to me. May we always remember. May we never forget. You May have added a few hours, months or days to my time here. But you know life support is expensive right?
“Thank you for trying. Amen.”
The incident has been confirmed by the UNN security department, and according to them this is not the first time he attempted committing suicide.
Akachi was said to have attempted taking his life on two occasions by drinking kerosene and petrol, however in those cases he was revived but this last attempt claimed his life after several attempts by the UNN medical Centre.
“But on Monday he drank Sniper and was rushed to UNN Medical Centre first, but was later moved to UNTH Enugu, where he was confirmed dead.
His body was discovered by passersby who took him to the hospital and the incident was reported to the security department of the school on Monday.
