The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced a recent Ebola outbreak in northeast Democratic Republic of Congo. The WHO said the outbreak affects an equatorial forest region in Bas-Uele province, bordering Central African Republic.

We recall that the Chief of the WHO, Margaret Chan in a statement said the the Ebola is inevitable as there might be an outbreak soon. She added that this time they are prepared as there are Vaccines set aside to help fight this deadly disease.

In 2013, there was an outbreak of the Ebola disease in some African countries whereby over 11,300 deaths were recorded..

The Health Minister of the Republic of Congo ,Oly Ilunga confirmed the outbreak and urged the population “not to panic”.

He said; ”the country has taken all necessary measures to respond quickly and efficiently to this new outbreak.”

The WHO noted that it was working closely with DR Congo authorities to help deploy health workers and protective equipment in the remote area, which is difficult for teams to access, in order to “rapidly control the outbreak”.
